Where to eat

Within walking distance

Of course there is a wide variety of lovely places to eat in Norwich, and loads of interesting independent cafes, especially in The Norwich Lanes www.norwichlanes.co.uk Where there are lots of interesting places to explore .  Holt is an excellent place for a potter with plenty of breaks for seriously good  refreshments.  Along the coast at Wells, Blakeney, Morston, sheringham and Cromer there are plenty of good hostelries  .

We’ve listed here a few places close to home:

The Market square in Aylsham is only 10 mins walk for the Windmill,

  •  Foodlovers Café is on the way to the town centre at 3 Penfold Street  NR11  6ET  01263 734433  www.wearefoodlovers.co.uk
Lovely home made flans quiches soups and salads etc. Unusually large selection of teas and other goodies for sale too.
  • In the Square is the Black Boys Hotel    Market Place, Aylsham, Norfolk NR11 6EH     www.blackboyshotel.co.uk        01263 732122  Now more a restaurant than a pub, good food, always busy – need to book.
  • Gate of India  Good, long established, attracts customers from outside Aylsham.  www.gateofindiaaylsham.co.uk                                     14 Market Place  NR11 6EH Telephone: 01263 734742/3
  • The Unicorn Pub, just off the Square does pub grub, Sausage & chips, toasted sandwiches etc.
    10 Hungate Street, Aylsham, Norwich, Norfolk County NR11 6AA    01263 732814.
  •  Also just off the Square on Red Lion Street is The Old Tearooms  Good café, lovely cakes.  18a Red Lion Street, Aylsham, Aylsham, NR11 6ER
    01263 732112
  •    Tea drinkers might want to head for Biddy’s Tea Rooms    www.biddystearoom.com/  vintage themed tea room.
  •  The Feathers Pub  01263 732314 is just up the road from us. A Proper Local, no food, but you might get an excellent home made scotch egg if you hit it on the right day. There is an unsubstantiated rumour that soup and/or filled rolls may be coming soon!

 Slightly further afield

The Marsham Arms, 10 mins drive, has a good menu and a lovely new patio area http://marshamarms.co.uk

The Crown Inn at Banningham is also very good, also with a nice new outdoor area www.banninghamcrown.co.uk

The Saracen’s Head    www.saracenshead-norfolk.co.uk/  is also close by at Wolterton, only about 15 mins drive, or a lovely long walk from Blickling Hall.
